"If an award for the best smile and stage personality was
presented by the OBA, this gal would win. A fun set with all new songs from
their just released Bluegrass Gospel CD. They worked hard for us and the OBA...
We love you guys. Thanks Kathy Boyd & PR.." ~ Ken Cartwright, OBA Gospel Show
Producer
"Special thanks for the Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising slow
jam--my daughter hasn't gotten her fiddle out in years until just a few months
ago--(lessons when in grade school)---and she out of the blue elected to come up
with us--and really appreciated the teaching going on in the jam there--kudos to
you guys." ~ Deb Brinkerhoff "*THANK YOU* so much for another fun concert. You are fabulous entertainers and it is always a joy dealing with you. Love your energy and the sparkle you bring to the stage. True professionals and musicians. WOW ! ~ Fran Coker, Klamath Basin Habitat for Humanity
"It was not an accident that I named Kathy Boyd & Phoenix
Rising as one of the bands that would bring me to Wintergrass. I've been playing
your "Burning Down The House" CD since I bought it when I saw you at Goldendale
last spring. You have become a favorite of my wife and me." ~ Jeff Hadfield "Your music is sweetly precious. . . . yet "ballsy" 'n real! Thanks!" ~ Gary King
"I've seen Kathy in a few bands but had not yet had a
chance to see her with Phoenix Rising, so other than her recordings, didn't know
what to expect...Well, little miss Dynamite didn't disappoint her fans.. and I'm
sure she made some new fans... Kathy and the boys were having a good time ... It
was great to see all the publicity that Kathy had generated for the show and it
paid off.. Thanks Kathy... An excellent show and hope you do well with your new
CD... Very entertaining and some good songwriting too... So Kathy, thanks for
bringing your show to Stayton, we appreciate it... ~ Ken Cartwright,
Cartwrights Music Series We love your music... killer.. ~ Robert, Radio Submit
Thank you for the great show at
Wilsonville. It was a real plus to get to talk to you and the group after the
show and share some notes. Something I forgot to do was thank you for the
tribute to our Country's Veterans. It is always appreciated when that is done
onstage. See you at Rivercity if not before.~ Louie White Kathy Boyd is one nice gal! Her generous enthusiasm is contagious...and I hope there is no antidote! ~ Bill Storm
Thanks for coming to Amboy and entertaining
us. I am the one who talked to you after your set and just loved your Dobro
performance of "Rhubarb Pie". I just listened to your "Burning Down the
House" CD. Awesome! Sometimes the CD just isn't the same as live. You guys come
real close to live in the CD and I just love that "Rhubarb Pie" song. Not only
do you have a sweet dobro moan going but also a great beat. I love the way you
mix in stacatto licks and chops with the cool slide licks. I must play this
song. Big Fan ~ Tom Telford
I can't tell you how much we appreciated
Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising being part of our event. Ive gotten nothing but
positive feedback. You started our day off just right! Thanks again to you
and the guys! It's been a pleasure working with you and I hope to do so again
soon! ~ Jessica Wade, Oregon Brews and BBQ's Habitat for Humanity Benefit
Entertainment Coordinator
Your band was wonderful and everyone
enjoyed the music. Thanks for coming and participating in the event! ~
Becky Fairbank, Executive Coordinator, McMinnville Area Habitat for
Humanity It was GREAT to hear you guys in concert finally! I loved it :) What a great group you have! GREAT concert, loved the stories behind the songs too. We've done some performance training and it takes a lot to put on a good show, and you guys definitely put on a GOOD SHOW! Can't wait to hear you again ~ Kate White (The Kate White Band), www.katewhitemusic.com or www.myspace.com/katewhiteband

Thank you all for the gift package. My troops and I really appreciate the items
that you sent. I believe I am the only one who truly knows about
Stumptown's coffee. In my civilian
life I am a chiropractor and used to work across the street from Stumptown at a
free clinic on Burnside St. I really do miss the coffee as well as Voodoo
doughnuts and their bucket of day olds. I have a question about the song "12
more miles to Clatskanie", why Clatskanie? I actually live in Clatskanie. My
troops also asked me to thank you for them. So Thanks again. KBPR, the band, formed to give the audience a great time because they know that the audience is the most important part of the mix during live performance. High energy with humor, personality, musical acumen and, well, just a darn good time because, after all, that's exactly what they set out to do. Clap, sing along, get your toes tappin' and let them pull you into the musical experience that is Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising! ~ Margaret Doran, Doran Productions
Flying home from
IBMA, I open up my
Bluegrass Now and there's a feature on
you! Congratulations--- its good to see good people getting the recognition they
deserve. ~ Al Price, Nechville Banjos
Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising adds a
dimension that RiverCity thrives on - great bluegrass music delivered with
personality! ~ Chris Palmer, Producer,
RiverCity Bluegrass Festival Thanks for all you did at Tygh Valley. And a special thanks to you and Tim for hosting the slow jam, wind and all. I didn't realize the banjo was a wind instrument until them. I'm a student of his on the 5 string. He had 3 student there which I thought was great. ~ Darrel Dixon
Just a quick note from the Bend-based, shaggy-haired guitarist that had the privilege to sing with you this past weekend. I just wanted to say one great big "thank you" for all of your support and encouragement that you gave me at Tygh Valley. It is really such a big boost to have you share the things that you did when one is trying to find their "legs" under them writing and performing. Aspen and I had a great time playing and singing a mess 'o songs with Dennis under one of the big 'ole trees there last weekend. I've never heard such beautiful 3 part harmony up close and personal like that... where the chord just doubles in volume when everyone comes in on it... I'm hooked on this whole thing, as you can probably tell!!! ~ Charles Davis
Thanks Kathy, My wife and I both
thank you for slow jam in Tygh Valley, we hope you will do it again. ~ Jim
Kester
Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising gained the
audience's attention and support from the beginning and kept it through the last
song by playing fun, upbeat music that was very enjoyable to listen to. The
musicians were very easy to work with and all had a demeanour that matched the
uplifting music on stage and off. It was truly a pleasure working with this
group and I hope to hear them again soon. Thank you for everything Kathy,
the band was wonderful and I hope to watch your band at the 2008 Oregon State
Fair. ~ Sara Hamler-Dupras, Entertainment Coordinator,
Oregon State Fair Kathy, Tim, Dennis, and Tom, THANKS FOR THE MOST AWESOME, DYNAMIC afternoon you shared with Mark and myself, at the Picnic Grove Stage (Oregon State Fair). Just wanted to jot down a note to say THANK YOU and the performance was so special....slide on Tim...
~Mark and Sharron Studer
Awesome! Our first experience with a live band on our
Kampground and it couldn't have turned out more successful. Kathy Boyd & Phoenix
Rising were the perfect ground breakers to live concerts. All of them fit right
in with us. They were a pleasure to get to know and the campers and locals that
came to join in were extremely delighted with their performance. I would suggest
this group to all organizations that are looking for a time of good music,
laughs and family entertainment. They are an all around "Great Experience".
Kathy Boyd & Rising Phoenix have an open invitation here anytime; and I as a
host tell you, you can't go wrong choosing such a down to earth group, and as a
want to be audience participant? Go for it, You will be glad that you did. ~
Rochell FitzGerald, Owner of the Port Angeles KOA,

Kathy Boyd and Phoenix Rising...what can I say? You guys
put on a stellar show and are "top shelf" entertainers. Goldendale was extremely
blessed to have you be such a big part of our Inaugural Blue Moon "Fiddle Around
The Stars" Festival. The children at our schools are still chatting about your
visit to their schools...and how much they loved your music! We do hope you will
come back and visit us one of these days soon. With sincere appreciation ~

Most importantly, as I sat there it struck me that each
of you expresses that you, individually and collectively, LOVE making music. I
will probably never pay the rent with music. I may never be at a level to
perform in a band. But when I strum my little red guitar I get to share a moment
with Tommy. When I struggle to sing a little tune all alone in my truck I wonder
just how Dennis does that. When I "get" the pictures in my head I admire Tim's
lyrical paintbrush. And when it just feels so good that all the world slows to a
gentle pace, I thank You, Kathy for your friendship, inspiration, and
encouragement. ~ Robert Underwood
Thank you
so much for the wonderful music and charm you all brought to our
wedding! You guys really made it even more wonderful. All of our guests
fell in love with you and we have not stopped talking about how wonderful
you all were! By the way, how can I get some of your CDs? Can I order them
online? I
would love to give some of friends in New Zealand some. I have been
bragging about you down here too! ~ Katherine O'Hare I just want to thank you for playing at my sons wedding. Your band is wonderful and it made their special day even more special. The "Wedding song" was absolutely amazing! Thank you so very much ~ Sue
What a great show Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising performed on Saturday night in Mt Angel!!! Kathy's very cool Eminence portable upright bass enables her to move even more enthusiastically on stage. This delightful evening was filled with lots of original songs. Tom Tower's song about Clatskanie, Kathy's hometown, was of particular interest due to the town's annual summer bluegrass festival. Tim Crosby's song about his grandmother's move to Colorado was beautifully performed. And Dennis Nelson, who only has been with the band a short 3 weeks, played and sung like he has been playing with the band for a long time. If you get a chance to hear this energetic band, do it...you definitely won't be disappointed. Hopefully, the band's debut CD will be released in the Spring so everyone can hear their music.
~ John Shafer Working with Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising was by far the easiest and most satisfying part of planning our wedding. Kathy was always quick to answer emails and phone calls, and always very positive and easy to work with. The band learned difficult and specific songs that fit our quirky needs as well as our religious and traditional needs. They were a highlight of the wedding itself; people raved about them at the wedding and afterwards! They were flexible, timely, and just an absolute blast. We cannot recommend them highly enough. ~ David and Karmin
Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising are veteran professionals who can be depended upon to entertain the audience at your music event. All members of the group are accomplished musicians and they produce a sound that people who are interested in traditional country music will enjoy. People will return year after year and bring their friends along. Kathy's husband Mark Gensman is an accomplished sound producer and technician. The Lions Club of Prospect, Oregon hopes to see the entire group back next year in Prospect to help us present the 12th Annual Prospect Bluegrass Festival. ~ Dave Conner, Prospect Bluegrass Festival Committee
What a great show you did for us in Newport. Wow, everyone absolutely loved it. I still have images of little kids running around in circles in my head. And thank you soooooo much for the customized lyrics to Man of Constant Sorrow (Fortune). We loved it. We're going to frame the signed copy you gave us. It really was a great night. Wish I'd had time to talk to you during the night, but it seemed to be a big blurr. Lots of fun and, like I said, you and the band really made it a memorable night for everyone, and the perfect wedding night for Tracy and myself. Thanks again, and hopefully we'll run into you guys again in the future. ~ Karl
Thank you so much for the wonderful entertainment at our reception. The care you took to personalize so many things, and the wonderful "new" song you wrote with lyrics printed for our benefit. We have it framed and up in our new home already. What a truly special gift . . . that was over the top! Thanks again. ~ Karl & Tracy Graham
Rose & I had a great time at the festival and we certainly had a blast "Jamming" with you all. Thanks so much and it was nice to meet you, Keep on Pickin'. ~ Rose & Dave Bliss
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your gig at the Ross Ragland Theatre. I was in town on vacation from West Palm Beach Fl. I'm drummer/percussionist down here doing mostly Jazz, Rock, Shows and some Orchestra stuff (whatever pays the bills). Although I'm not a devotee of bluegrass I like the fact that it, like jazz, is still exciting because of the very live aspect of it and in this world of protocols and programming it's always good to hear and see real people playing real music and getting that instant reaction from the crowd. Keep on pickin' and hope to see you again. I get up there at least once a year. ~ David G. Kroll
It was great seeing you at RiverCity, I really liked the energy of the band, it looked like you guys were psyched and having a lot of fun. And I heard your recording on Uptown Bluegrass, I love that song. Looks like Phoenix Rising is coming right along. ~ Doug W.
Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising- I had never had a chance to see them play, and was very impressed. Lots of energy, and great playing, and that little lady with her little bass.... and her pink boots!! ~ Chip Russell
All of that plus my first opportunity to see Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising for the first time really helped make the festival (RiverCity) for me. ~ Jim Kelly
