Tom Tower Gets A New Hip! On July 24, 2006 our good friend and banjo/Dobro player Tom Tower underwent hip surgery. Here are a few of the get well notes from his fans. Feel free to send your own by clicking here!
Tom's surgeon assures him that those stitches really were done with Black Diamond Strings!
Hey Tom! Hope this has you running faster and jumping higher soon! Take your banjo to the hospital. They will love it when you play late at night. Where are you getting this done? Best wishes for a speedy recovery. ~ Davis
Hi Tom, Glad to hear you are doing well. I hope your recovery is uneventful and you're vertical and mobile soon. ~ John the Bodhran maker.
Hey Tom, We're all getting a little wobbly in this day and age ........I kind of like "The Wobblies" for the name of my next band. Stay cool and get back to 120% real soon. ~ Joe
Hey Tommy, I hope you feel like a king while you're sitting on your new throne! ~ Mark
Kathy posted a message from you on NWBG, reminding me of my failure to send you a "get hip" card. Guess email will have to suffice 'cause you will no doubt be up and about before I get a card off. Glad to hear everything went well, and I'm looking forward to pickin' with you soon. ~ Tom
Just got off the phone with Tom and he sounded fully like himself, a little low key but still expounding on his non-ordinary experiences. He's already been up a walked to the visitors room, mooned them all in his hospital gown, with blue iodine on his bum a la Mel Gibson. He is a brave heart! I called his cell and he answered so he is tuned in at least some of the time. Says he should be home by Friday. Told him we were all sending him vibes. See you all soon. ~ Shelley
Sure hope that your hip replacement
surgery went well and that your recovery is very speedy. I know that
you'll be able to do the Elvis moves on stage now. I remember the physical
therapist coming to work with your mom at home after her surgery. She had
your mom walk once around the house, then asked, "Do you want to do that
again?" Your mom quickly replied, "NO." Moral of the story, don't shirk
PT. It does mean pain and torture but it will get better. ~ Cathy and Alan Have not wanted to disturb the intense subjective experience of recovery with the concomitant meditational explorations of interior dimensions, but now that you have re-established communications with the objective and constructed world--welcome back! ~ John
